Golf First

The goal of the Golf First Program is to help young people ages 10-15 learn the game.  Each student in the program receives the following:

  • Six FREE lessons from a PGA teaching professional covering rules of the game of golf and instruction in the fundamentals of grip, putting, swing, pitching, and chipping.
  • A FREE golf bag and six beginner clubs.
  • FREE unlimited use of practice range and golf greens for the season upon successful completion of golf clinics.

Since its creation, the Golf First Program has supplied lessons, clubs and bags to over 250 young golfers, and the Fund plans to expand the program in 2010!

The Golf First Program was awarded a grant from the USGA in 2007 and 2008. It is registered with the USGA and PGA supported Junior Links.

25 to 30 adult and high school golf team members volunteer each year to be mentors for the program participants.  Each mentor is assigned a student and works individually with him/her to reinforce the lessons and skills taught by the PGA professional.

The Beginner Program meets on Mondays and Thursdays and runs from June 7th through June 25th.

The Intermediate Program meets on Wednesdays and Fridays and runs from June 9th through June 25th.
